Weekend preview: Northern Premier League and FA Cup action

The latest preview ahead of this weekend's Pitching In Northern Premier League and FA Cup action.

At the top of the Premier Division table, Warrington Town return to Cantilever Park for the third consecutive league game to face Whitby Town, who announced that manager Chris Hardy has resigned from the club.

Speaking of his decision, Hardy said: "It's not something I decided on the back of Tuesday night's defeat, I have given it some good time to think about it and now feels the right time to leave.

"I've thoroughly enjoyed my time as manager of the football club. There have been plenty of ups and downs and I will look back on my tenure fondly.”

Paul Carden’s side are yet to concede a goal this season, and sit at the top with nine points.

Elsewhere in the top division, Witton Albion host Basford United, with both sides claiming one win so far this season.

In the N/West Division, top of the table Ramsbottom United host Pontefract Collieries, who have one draw and one loss so far this season, while the Rams are undefeated in the opening two games.

Ossett United continue to search for their first league win, and they host Colne who are two from two with six league points.

Clitheroe host Trafford, Dunston travel to Pickering Town and Workington will be hoping to claim their first win against City of Liverpool FC.

There are seven fixtures in the S/East league, with second placed Belper Town hosting Glossop North End.

Elsewhere, Frickley Athletic host Carlton Town, Lincoln United face Stocksbridge Park Steels, Cleethorpes Town travel to Loughborough Dynamo and Market Drayton Town play Spalding United.

Wisbech Town will be hoping to climb from the bottom of the table in search for their first win at home to Newcastle Town, while Leek Town travel to Sutton Coldfield Town.

There is also plenty of FA Cup Second Qualifying Round action this weekend, including all-Premier Division clashes between Ashton United and South Shields, Grantham Town and Matlock Town, while Stafford Rangers travel to the Tarmac Silverlands to face Buxton.

FC United of Manchester face National League North side Curzon Ashton, and AFC Fylde travel to Hyde United.

Worksop Town also host Chester, who also featured in the National League North.
