Warrington Rylands’ relentless run of eight wins in a row has seen them take over pole position in the table, a point ahead of Workington, who do have a game in hand.
That game in hand will be rendered almost obsolete if Rylands go up to Cumbria this weekend and win at Borough Park.
A four-figure crowd is expected as the Reds push for their first ever NPL title, and while a win for either side doesn’t guarantee anything, it puts them in pole position.
Rylands have the edge having beaten the Reds 2-1 in the reverse fixture, which ended Workington’s 28-match unbeaten league run.
After this weekend, Rylands finish off with a trip to 1874 Northwich on Easter Monday and a home game with Bootle.
Workington have two games over the Easter weekend, travelling to Marine and hosting Kendal Town, before visiting Market Drayton Town on final day.
