West Preview: Three play-off spots up for grabs

By James Gordon

The final three participants of the EVO-STIK League West Division play-offs will be decided this weekend, with four teams still in with a chance of making the top five.

Currently, only Radcliffe FC have secured their place in the end-of-season showcase, with third down to sixth separated by just two points.

Third-placed Leek will all-but guarantee their play-off spot with a draw away at Colwyn Bay, who will be playing their last match before returning to the Welsh football pyramid. The scenario is the same for Ramsbottom United, who will look to make it three wins in a row at home to in-form Kidsgrove Athletic.

Colne are one point behind the aforementioned sides, and currently occupy the final play-off spot. The Reds know that a draw away at already-relegated Skelmersdale will likely not be enough to reach the top five, should Runcorn Linnets pick up victory on the road at Glossop North End.

Having picked up the league title last weekend, table-topping Atherton Collieries travel south to take on Newcastle Town, who have lost six of the last seven. Meanwhile, Radcliffe visit Chasetown having won at Colwyn Bay seven days ago.

Elsewhere in the round, Prescot Cables put their three-game winning run on the line away at Droylsden, Trafford will look to end their indifferent recent home form when Market Drayton visit Shawe View and Widnes FC host a Kendal Town currently on a nine-game losing streak.

In the final game of the round, Mossley take on Clitheroe. Having won just one in their last five on the road, the Lilywhites will look to end the season in respectable manner away at the Shawbridge.
