Whitby walker raises nearly £300

Town fan walks 16 miles for club

Before the Blues' Boxing Day clash with North Ferriby United, intrepid Whitby Town nut Andy Lever and his dog Ibby, completed a 16-mile journey from their home in Loftus, via the Cleveland Way and several stretches of sand, to the North Yorkshire side's Turnbull Ground.

After a longer-than-intended spell on the beach at Runswick Bay, the Town follower took approximately six hours to complete the trek and raised nearly £300 for club funds.
There'll be a special handover ceremony with treasurer Andrew Spenceley at Whitby's home game with Chasetown on Saturday 7th January.

Mr Lever(44), who also led the teams out last Monday with Ibby, has dedicated the effort to his fellow fans, via www.whitby-town.com, he said: 'Thank you to everybody who sponsored us especially with it being Christmas.

'Once I've recovered from a game we didn't deserve to lose I will put a thank you list up but it is really you the supporters putting your hands in your pockets that's raised the money'
