Widnes announce first four summer signings

Widnes have confirmed their first four summer signings ahead of the Pitching In Northern Premier League 2021/22 season.

Striker Ben Wharton became the club's first summer signing announcement earlier this month. The 31-year-old joins from Stalybridge Celtic, and has featured for Widnes in their pre-season so far.

"Ben gives us a focal point I feel we have lacked in recent seasons," joint-manager Kev Towey said.

"He has done it consistently at this level over the years and at 31, I believe he is in as good a shape as he's ever been.

"We tried to sign Ben when he left Radcliffe last year as he is a constant thorn in the side of opposition defenders and we're delighted to have him."

The club have also announced the signings of Kyle Harrison, Jordan Barrow and Owen Wheeler.
