Wilkinson wants old boss in final

Lincoln United manager Sam Wilkinson is hoping to meet his old boss Dave Frecklington in an all EVO-STIK Northern Premier League Lincolnshire Senior Shield final.

Wilkinson, pictured, number two to Frecklington at Ashby Avenue before his departure in May to take over at EVO-STIK NPL First Division South rivals Spalding United, guided his side into the final on Saturday with a 2-0 win over National League neighbours Lincoln City.

Stamford are set to host Frecklington's Tulips in the competition's second semi-final a week before the new season kicks off on Saturday 6 August. While Wilkinson wishes the Daniels and manager Graham Drury well, he says he'll be more than happy to meet his old mentor.

Wilkinson's Whites also disposed of another National League outfit, Gainsborough Trinity, in the quarter-finals and on Monday he said: "It would definitely add a bit of spice if Dave gets through with Spalding but I don't mind who we get really.

"I don't think the club has won any silverware in the last decade and we haven't got a date for the final yet but it will be a fantastic game at the start of the season and the whole club is looking forward to the occasion."
