Wrens announce off-season plans

Rainworth MW update, by Gordon Foster

EVO-STIK NPL Division One South club Rainworth MW have announced their first three home friendlies in their build-up to next season.

Conference North side Boston United will visit on 21st July, Stocksbridge are due on 4th August, and Matlock Town will be at Kirklington Road on 11th August.

All are Saturday matches with 3pm kick-offs.

Meanwhile, negotiations are taking place with a view to Mansfield Town also visiting in pre-season.

Annual meeting date fixed

The Wrens’ annual general meeting will take place at 7.30pm on Thursday, 7th June in the T-bar at their Kirklington Road ground.

All supporters and others who have an interest in the club are welcome to attend.

30-year anniversary marked

Two Rainworth committee members attended a gala sportsnight at Conference Premier club Forest Green Rovers on Thursday night.

Longest serving committee member Brian Martin and commercial manager Steve Peat made the 300-mile round trip at the invitation of the Gloucestershire club for the 30th anniversary of the two clubs meeting at Wembley in the 1982 FA Vase final.

Club souvenirs were exchanged to mark the anniversary. Rainworth also received a letter of condolence from Forest Green following the recent death of Brian Phillips, who led the club on that memorable run.
