Youth in court over break-ins

The 18-year-old youth of no fixed abode appeared at Lincoln Magistrates Court on Tuesday on charges of burglary at the home of the Tulips on October 24 and a number of other burglaries in the Spalding area.

The spirits of officials at the Sir Halley Stewart Field have already been lifted by a mystery benefactor and an online campaign by fans to raise funds to repair the damage left in four raids by mindless thieves and vandals in the last four weeks.

The benefactor, who pledged £250 and fans, who're backing a justgiving crowdfunding campaign to raise at least £500, came forward to help after Spalding United chairman Andrew Gay admitted he'd come close to quitting after the third raid caused thousands of pounds of damage at the EVO-STIK NPL First Division South club's home, pictured.
