YouTuber takes on Prescot challenge

Fans of Prescot Cables are being treated to a promotion push in the EVO-STIK League West Division twice this season.

Popular YouTuber, Kylex, has taken up the challenge of leading the "Pesky Bulls" up the pyramid on the renowned video game, Football Manager.

They're not the first member club to have received such attention, with South Shields, Matlock Town and previously Altrincham being used by other YouTubers in older editions of the game.

Darren Miller, the man behind the Kylex channel, explained the reasoning behind selecting Cables for his story.

He said: "I moved to Prescot after meeting my (now) wife, who is from Prescot. Prescot Cables was the local Football Club and their ground Volair Park was less than a five minute walk from my new flat so I started going to the games occasionally.

"The togetherness at the club is amazing and everyone wants to grow the club to its potential.

"I had been to a few other clubs but found Cables to be so welcoming and helpful towards a southerner in Merseyside, something I struggled to feel at a couple of other clubs I had been to where I felt like an outsider.

"A few years later I started watching some big name football manager creators such as Loki Doki, BoodFM and Lollujo on YouTube and I had been playing FM for nearly two decades previously, I really liked what these creators were doing taking my favourite game and kind of connecting it with real life, then last year a handful of creators started working with football clubs which I thought was an amazing idea.

"So I started speaking to the guys at Prescot Cables about me representing them on FM19, they were very helpful and into the idea and I explained that some clubs had partnered up with creators and it had some great exposure for both the club and creator.

"I wanted to do things a bit different and not just play as the club but get those who were interested involved so far I’ve managed to get a few fans and players in the videos and I hope as the seasons roll on and the stories unravel we can get more and more people involved from the club."
