AFC Rushden & Diamonds make double signing

Defender Daniel Tagoe and midfielder Joe Sutton have linked up with the club as they ready themselves for the new Pitching In NPL Midlands Division campaign.

Tagoe, 20, stands at 6'5 and is capable of playing in both defence and midfield.

He has caught the eye in the club's last three friendlies and joins from National League side Oxford City, having featured for their U23s last season.

Also making the move to Hayden Road is midfielder Sutton, who spent time at four separate clubs during the previous campaign.

Before them, the 24-year-old enjoyed a five-year spell at St Neots Town, having previously started out his career at Histon in 2016.

Discussing his new arrivals, manager Chris Nunn said: "Daniel’s come in over the last few games and done really well.

"He’s fitted in with the boys which is a big thing for me and I think he’s got big potential.

"I think we’ve all seen he distributes the ball very well; he’s a physical presence which is something we’re going to need this year, but above all else he’s shown a real desire to be here and I really like that.

“I’ve known Joe for a while from his time at St Neots and have always kept tabs on him. He’s had a difficult year last year for various reasons and hopefully we can get him settled and enjoying his football again.

"If we can do that, I’m sure he’ll become a fan favourite this season. He’s come in from the first training session in pre-season and worked really hard.

"He brings loads of enthusiasm, energy and he’s a really likeable guy. He’s bought into what we’re trying to do here and he’s got a lot of experience at this level and the level above, which is something we’re going to need to call upon at times this year.

"I’m really pleased to get him on board.”
