Avro defender makes National League North move
Avro defender Jack Kenny has completed a move to National League North side Chester.
Kenny, 21, makes the move to the Deva Stadium on an initial one-year deal.
Despite his age, he played an influential role in Avro's rise to Step 3 last season, winning promotion to the NPL Premier Division via the play-offs for the first time in the club's history.
On the back of a stellar campaign, the former Stockport County youngster now departs the Vestacare Stadium to take up an opportunity in the National League North.
Avro manager Grant Shenton was full of praise for Kenny following his move to Chester, saying: "When I sat down with Jack at the start of last season, he had clear goals.
"He wanted to play as much as possible, compete in a side pushing at the top end of the league and ultimately earn the opportunity to move back into full-time football.
"I promised Jack that if he was willing to work hard and fully commit, I would give him the opportunity and environment to help him achieve those goals.
"Jack turned down offers with more money elsewhere to come with us. Some people on the outside might not see how big that is, but for me, it showed trust, ambition and character. He backed himself, and he backed us.
"At Avro, we’ve built a reputation for giving talented young players the platform to prove they can climb the pyramid, and Jack has taken that opportunity with both hands.
"He was outstanding all season. Professional, hard working, honest and a natural leader within the group. A player and person I’ll always have a huge amount of time for.
"Now we shake his hand, wish him and his family the very best, and look forward to watching the next chapter of his journey unfold.’
“Myself, the staff and everyone at the club couldn’t be prouder of what Jack achieved last season.”
