Bamber Bridge confirm departure of Archie Lang
Bamber Bridge have announced that midfielder Archie Lang has parted ways with the club.
The young midfielder made the move to the Brig in November 2025 from North West Counties Football League side Thornton Cleveleys.
Lang quickly established himself as an integral member of their squad, going on to feature 24 times for the club, earning him a new deal at Irongate running until the end of the 2026/27 season, with the option of a further year.
At the start of the current season, Bamber Bridge rejected an offer from National League outfit AFC Fylde for Lang.
He went on to feature 15 more times for the Brig, scoring seven goals.
However, following the departure of long-term manager Jamie Milligan last Thursday, the club confirmed that a clause in Lang's contract had been activated, allowing him to terminate his agreement.
The vacant manager position was filled by former Preston North End stalwart Paul McKenna, who played for the Brig from 2014-2015, before announcing his retirement from football.
In a statement regarding Lang's exit, a Bamber Bridge spokesperson said: "Bamber Bridge Football Club can confirm that Archie Lang will depart the club following the activation of a clause within his existing playing contract.
"The provision, agreed in February 2026 prior to the current leadership taking responsibility, allows Archie to terminate his agreement following the departure of former first team manager Jamie Milligan.
"Whilst these arrangements were inherited by the current leadership and are not necessarily provisions we would have agreed ourselves, we recognise our responsibility to honour the club’s contractual commitments.
"Our priority throughout has been to ensure that matters were handled correctly, professionally and in the best interests of Bamber Bridge FC, whilst treating Archie with the fairness and respect he deserves. Having carefully reviewed the position, we are pleased to have reached an amicable conclusion.
"We remain committed to strengthening the club’s structures and ensuring all future decisions are made with the long-term interests of Bamber Bridge FC at heart.
“We thank Archie for his contribution and wish him every success in the next chapter of his career and you will always be welcome at the club.”
