Bamber Bridge turn down National League interest in key midfielder
Bamber Bridge have confirmed they have rejected a transfer offer from National League side AFC Fylde for young midfielder Archie Lang.
Lang joined the Brig back in November, making the move from Thornton Cleveleys, and quickly established himself as a pivotal member of their squad.
Such was his impact, the club tied him down to a new deal running until the end of the season, with the option of a further year.
Lang started the Brig's opening game of the season - a 2-0 defeat at Cleethorpes Town - but it has now been confirmed that he is the subject of interest from Step 1.
However, the club have been quick to shut down any transfer speculation, releasing a statement confirming that the decision to turn down Fylde's offer was made in order to "protect the interests of Bamber Bridge FC".
The full statement read: "Bamber Bridge FC can confirm that the Club has received and rejected an official transfer offer from AFC Fylde for Archie Lang.
"Archie remains under contract and is an important member of our first team squad.
"The club will continue to support the ambitions of our players while protecting the interests of Bamber Bridge FC.
"No further comment will be made at this stage."
Jamie Milligan's side are back in action on Tuesday night at home to newly-promoted Avro.
