Blyth Spartans sign Fleetwood forward in permanent deal

Blyth Spartans have brought in young forward Lucas Taylor from Football League side Fleetwood Town.

The 18-year-old has penned an initial deal until the end of the season, although there is an option to extend.

The north-east native progressed through Fleetwood's academy system, featuring for both their U18 and U21 sides.

Taylor has gained valuable senior experience this season through loan spells with Northern Premier League title challengers Hebburn Town and fellow NPL East Division side Blyth Town.

Able to play across the front line, Taylor came on for his Spartans debut as a second-half substitute during Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Heaton Stannington.

"Lucas became available recently, so we wanted to get him onboard to further strengthen the squad," manager Marc Nash said.

"Coming from a full-time environment, he's fit, sharp and very hungry to do well.

"His desire to join Spartans was clear, so we hope he can contribute goals and assists to help us escape the bottom end of the table."
