Bradford (Park Avenue) midfielder makes Cleethorpes switch

Cleethorpes Town have announced the signing of Joe Ackroyd from Bradford (Park Avenue).

The 23-year-old central midfielder joined the Avenue ahead of the 2025/26 season.

During his time at the Horsfall Community Stadium, he made 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring three times.

A Barnsley academy graduate, Ackroyd made his senior debut for the Tykes in a 5-4 win over Barrow in the FA Cup in January 2022.

While at Barnsley, he gained further experience of senior football through loan spells at Czech National Football League side MFK Vyškov, Guiseley and Buxton.

Ackroyd signed a one-year deal with Guiseley following the expiration of his contract at the League One outfit.

On the signing of Ackroyd, a Cleethorpes representative said: "Joe joined the Avenue ahead of the current campaign and went on to make 35 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists during his time at the Horsfall Community Stadium.

"A tenacious and creative midfielder, he was a regular presence in the side and contributed consistently across the season.

"Joe's desire to play back at Step 3 is what has brought him to the attention of the Owls.

“We are excited to see what Joe can do in the blue and black stripes of Cleethorpes Town.”

Ackroyd will go into contention to make his debut for Cleethorpes in their upcoming trip to Stockton Town in the Northern Premier League on Saturday.
