Grimsby Borough manager departs
Tom Claisse has left his role as manager of Grimsby Borough by mutual consent, the club have confirmed.
Claisse, alongside his assistant Danny East, arrived at the club in February 2026.
They led the Wilderness Boys to a 15th-place finish in the NPL East Division last season, before being rewarded with three-year contract extensions following the conclusion of the campaign.
However, the club sit second-bottom of the East Division having won just one of their opening nine league games.
The decision to part ways with Claisse was announced in the wake of a 2-1 home defeat to Consett.
Explaining the decision, chairman Jason Flint said: "Following the decision for Grimsby Borough FC to part ways with First Team Manager Tom Claisse, I wanted to personally place on record my thanks to Tom for everything he has given to the football club.
"Tom came into the role midway through last season at an incredibly important time for the club. We faced a real challenge to retain our Northern Premier League status, and Tom played a pivotal role in ensuring we achieved that.
"From the moment he stepped into the position, Tom brought hard work, organisation and professionalism. He gave everything to the role and had a genuinely positive impact on the culture around the first team and the wider club.
"Decisions like this are never easy, particularly when they involve someone you have a great deal of respect for, both professionally and personally.
"Tom is someone I consider a good friend, and that makes this a particularly difficult statement for me to write.
"Football can be a tough, unforgiving and relentless environment, and sometimes difficult decisions have to be made with the club’s longer-term direction in mind. However, that should never take away from what Tom achieved during his time as first team manager, or the contribution he has made to Grimsby Borough.
"On behalf of myself, the board and everyone at the club, I want to sincerely thank Tom for his commitment, loyalty and the huge amount of time and effort he has put into the role.
"Tom leaves with my respect, my gratitude and my friendship. I have no doubt that his work ethic, professionalism and knowledge of the game will serve him well in whatever comes next."
