Hednesford assistant credits ‘fantastic away performance’ as Pitmen win six in a row

Hednesford Town assistant manager Lee Vaughan believes his side is starting to really build momentum after the Pitmen won a sixth game on the bounce away at Ashton United.
Akheem Rose’s second-half effort was enough to take all three points back to Staffordshire, and Vaughan knows his side had to work hard to get the job done.
“It was a fantastic away performance,” he said post-match.
“They have a good side, they’re well coached, and it was a really competitive game.
“They’re not going to be pretty, these away games. You have to grind them out, defend your box and be clinical in the other one too, and we had that quality in the final third.”
Heading into a busy winter period, Hednesford are starting to flex their muscles.
The Pitmen are now four points clear at the top of the Northern Premier League, having won every game this month and keeping four clean sheets along the way.
With tough games against both Warrington sides and FC United of Manchester coming up in December, Vaughan believes that the Pitmen are hitting form at the right time.
“Result-wise, they’ve been perfect [in November],” he added.
“But we can improve, and we will always be looking at ways to improve. But today, we’d be nitpicking. I’m really pleased with today, it was a really professional performance.
“We got another clean sheet, which is fantastic, and we’re starting to really build momentum.”
