Hednesford Town bolster forward options as new winger joins club

Hednesford Town have announced the signing of winger Omari Sterling-James from Hereford United for an undisclosed fee.

Sterling-James first joined National League North side Hereford from Rushall Olympic in March 2025.

He had previously amassed a wealth of experience in the upper reaches of the non-league pyramid, featuring over 200 times at Step 1 and 2 level.

On the international stage, Sterling-James has represented St. Kitts & Nevis over 30 times.

Hednesford have described him as a "direct and creative wide player with real end product".

Hednesford say their assistant manager, Lee Vaughan, played a key role in the move, having previously played alongside Sterling-James.

Discussing the move, Hednesford's latest signing said: “I know a few of the lads here and I’ve played with Lee before, so that connection definitely helped. Being local made it even more appealing.

“I’ve played across the leagues and more recently at National League North, and now I just want to come in, work hard and help the team get promoted. That’s the aim. I’m excited to get started and be part of what’s building here.”

Manager Gavin Hurren said: “We’re at a stage of the season where we needed to strengthen, particularly with a few injuries in key areas, and Omari fitted exactly what we were looking for.

“He’s very strong from set-pieces and is an attacking player who can operate across the front line. When the opportunity came up to bring him in, it was one we wanted to move on quickly.

“His numbers this season show the impact he can have in the final third. Bringing Omari in gives us more options and improves our chances during what will be a busy and important run of games.”

Sterling-James made his first appearance for the club on New Year's Day, coming on as a second-half substitute in their 1-0 defeat at Rushall Olympic.
