Hornets buzz grows with new double signing

Hebburn Town have announced the signings of Liam Noble and Michael Turner ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Noble, 33, returns to the Hornets after initially joining on loan from Morpeth Town in March.

The former Carlisle United midfielder made 12 appearances and scored once as Hebburn were crowned Northern Premier League East Division champions.

On his permanent move to the club, Noble said: "I feel like it was only ever going to be Hebburn.

"It’s a club going forward in the right direction and it’s the first time the club has been in the Northern Premier League's Premier Division.

"It’s going to be a good challenge as it’s a new experience for everyone at the club, and I was just dying to be part of it again.

"My two little boys, one who is two and the other five, absolutely love coming through and they’re always singing 'ooh Hebburn is a place on earth.' My five-year-old is looking forward to coming to every home game next season.

"It’s the little things like that, which makes it easier for me to want to sign for this magnificent club."

Hebburn Town manager Daniel Moore was delighted with the addition of Noble for next season's campaign, saying: "Liam is a great signing for us. We have had the luxury of working together last season, so he knows us and what’s expected.

"However, we can’t underestimate the role he played on and off the pitch, which saw us become league champions.

"We have created an environment that I believe gets the best out of him, and with the immense quality he has, our forward players will thrive, with his experience being invaluable."

Joining him at the Hebburn Sports Ground next season is Michael Turner.

The centre-back also makes the move from Morpeth Town, where he made almost 200 appearances since signing in 2017.

Prior to his move to the Highwaymen, Turner played for South Shields, helping them to promotion from Step 6 with a winning goal at Easington Colliery.

The veteran defender is excited by the prospect of joining Hebburn Town, and believes that big things await the club as they make the move up to the Premier Division.

"It feels good, a little nervous, but I think it’s time for a new challenge after so long up at Morpeth," Turner admitted.

"I only know a handful of the lads, but I’m sure they will all make me feel more than welcome.

"I’ve been to Hebburn a few times towards the back end of the season, and watched the run-in of fixtures, and thought this is a piece of what I want next.

"I’m looking forward to the new challenge with a new team, playing in the NPL for 3 years myself now, I don't see why Hebburn can’t compete with the top half or even higher."

Manager Darren Moore added: "Micky is a fantastic signing for us.

"He is going to bring some balance to the side being left-footed.

“His experience, attitude and attributes have seen him become one of the best defenders in the Northern Premier League.

"I’ve always been a fan of Micky, so I’m delighted he’s on board and I’m looking forward to working with him."
