Hyde United say goodbye to long-serving midfielder

Hyde United have confirmed the departure of Callum Spooner, who has agreed a move to Bury ahead of next season.

Spooner spent four seasons with the Tigers, minus a brief 13-game stint in the National League North with Southport at the start of the 2024/25 campaign.

In total, he featured 131 times for Hyde in all competitions, helping them to three successive top-10 finishes in the Northern Premier League's top division.

He also led the club to silverware in the form of the 2023/24 Cheshire Senior Cup.

The 27-year-old will now link up with a Shakers side looking to bolster their squad following promotion to Step 4 at the end of last season.

“I’m delighted to sign for the club," he said following the move.

"From the outside, you can see how different it is from other clubs at the level.

"It was obvious that the style of play and ambitions suit mine as a player, so it was an easy decision to sign for Bury Football Club.”

Spooner becomes Bury's second eye-catching signing in a matter of days, with former Ratcliffe defender also completing a move to Gigg Lane.
