Hyde United strengthen forward line with two new arrivals
Hyde United have welcomed two new forwards to their squad.
The Tigers have completed the signing of former Warrington Town forward Max Thompson and Max McCarthy, who arrives on a three-month loan from Radcliffe.
Thompson started last season with National League North side Chorley before going on to make an impressive start to life at Warrington Town on dual-registration, scoring four goals in as many appearances.
He subsequently joined the club on a permanent basis in November last year but was released following the conclusion of the season.
Thompson made his Hyde debut in a 4-0 defeat at Alfreton Town on Tuesday night and was sent off late in the game.
McCarthy, meanwhile, became Radcliffe's first signing of the summer.
The talented young forward scored 52 goals in 84 appearances for hometown club Congleton Town since rejoining in the 2023/24 campaign.
He joined Radcliffe on a one-year deal, with the option of a second, but has now been sent out on loan to enjoy further game time.
The pair join a Hyde outfit currently 15th in the NPL Premier Division, with two wins, a draw and three defeats to show from their opening seven games.
Meanwhile, the Tigers have confirmed that Ryan Liu and Sanchez Phillips have left following the conclusion of their respective loan spells, while Ben Kershaw, Lewis Cunningham and Tyrell Dawes have also moved on.
“We needed to strengthen the squad and we couldn't guarantee them first team football, so they leave with our best wishes,” manager Michael Clegg said.
