Jack Doyle departs Southport for Warrington Town

Warrington Town have announced the signing of defender Jack Doyle ahead of the upcoming 2025/26 season.
The 27-year-old left-back ends a six-year affiliation with Southport, after initially signing for the Sandgrounders in 2019, following his release from Blackburn Rovers.
Doyle, who was a fan favourite at Haig Avenue, departs the club as one of their longest-serving players with 217 appearances to his name.
He was unveiled as Warrington Town's 12th summer signing at their season launch event on Wednesday evening, as Paul Carden's squad overhaul continues to take shape ahead of their return to Step 3 on Saturday, with a home fixture against last season's NPL East Division champions Cleethorpes Town.
On the acquisition of Doyle and the wider recruitment process, Carden said: "We've been speaking for a couple of weeks now, and I'm glad to announce that he's joining the club, and he's going to be a big player for us.
"I'm really pleased with the players that we've brought in up until now. It has been a busy summer, a tough summer, but I'm really pleased with the players we've brought in up to now.
"We're bringing lads in who have either been released from clubs or have been playing on trial. That doesn't mean that we aren't setting our bar high. We want to bounce straight back, and the players who have come in are all well aware of last season.
“They all know what our goals are this season, and promotion has to be the aim.”
