Jamie Milligan challenges Bamber Bridge to kick on after ending four-game losing streak

Bamber Bridge manager Jamie Milligan was delighted with a win against Prescot Cables last time out - their first after four straight defeats - but has told his side they need to replicate it against Workington this weekend.

An Archie Lang goal in the second half was all that separated the Brig and Cables last weekend as Milligan’s men flew up the table after starting the day just outside the relegation zone.

“I thought they were excellent, Milligan said-post match

“We defended a lot better; they created chances, but we had some good chances, too. It was good to get the win because the lads have been through a tough period lately, so I’m pleased for them.”

The win saw Bamber Bridge go four points clear of the drop zone, with that gap being closed to three following Morpeth Town’s midweek draw against Gainsborough Trinity.

This weekend, the Brig travel to Workington - the side bottom of the division.

Saturday’s trip to Borough Park presents a big opportunity for the Brig to win back-to-back games and put some distance between themselves and the relegation zone, and Milligan had challenged his players to do just that.

“It’s a tough place to go to and they’re a tough team to play against,” Milligan admitted.

“But we need to start going on a run, and the lads know that.

“I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, with the ability we have in that changing room, we shouldn’t be where we are.”
