Kidsgrove Athletic boss Tom Pope resigns

Kidsgrove Athletic have announced that Tom Pope has resigned from his position as manager due to footballing reasons.

Alongside Matt Rhead, Pope was first appointed player-manager of the club back in February 2025.

Kidsgrove finished 16th last season, and following the conclusion of the campaign, it was announced that Pope would officially retire from playing to focus on management.

However, they have lost both of their opening two league games in the NPL West Division and were also removed from this season's FA Cup after fielding an ineligible player against Abbey Hulton United.

A club statement read: "We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Tom for everything he has done for the club during his time in the role.

"We wish Tom all the very best for the future and thank him for his efforts and commitment to Kidsgrove Athletic."
