Lancaster City to say goodbye to long-serving midfielder

Lancaster City have announced that midfielder Christian Sloan will leave the club at the end of the season.

He will end his six-year association with the Dolly Blues over the summer, in order to take up a job opportunity in the USA.

Sloan began his footballing career with Barrow in their academy. Unable to find a breakthrough, Sloan then joined up with Kendal Town, where he spent a year before signing for Mark Fell’s side.

Over the course of his time in Lancaster, Sloan scored nine goals in all competitions and became a two-time winner of the LFA Challenge Trophy.

In just his first season at the club, Sloan was awarded the Directors' Player of the Year, followed by the Supporters' Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year award at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

This season, he has featured 40 times for Lancaster, scoring once against Stocksbridge Park Steels in November.

On his departure Sloan said: "There’s obviously something special about the club to have me down the M6 three times a week!

"A massive thank you to the lads, staff and supporters for everything over the last six years."

Manager Jimmy Marshall said: "Sloany has been an outstanding servant and player for this club. I am just glad I got to manage him for a full season because that has been a pleasure.

“He will always be welcomed back, and I hope we can give him the send-off he deserves.”
