Leek Town bolster defensive ranks
Leek Town have announced the signing of talented defender Matty Fenton from 1874 Northwich.
Fenton made 131 appearances for his former club and scored 15 times, having made his first team debut in February 2022.
He made a total of 86 appearances in the NPL West Division and agreed to remain with the club following their relegation in 2023/24.
The 24-year-old went on to be a virtual everpresent for the Greens in the Midland Football League last season, starting 45 of their 46 games and amassing 14 goal contributions.
In a statement confirming the departure of their captain, 1874 said: "It’s no secret that Matty is a brilliant footballer, and he thoroughly deserves this move up the pyramid.
"We know he is joining a fantastic club who will continue his development.
“Matty has been instrumental since joining the club in the 2021/22 season, so we would like to thank Matty for his efforts over the last four seasons and wish him all the best for the future.”
