Leek Town midfielder leaves club to pursue Baller League UK opportunity

Leek Town midfielder Nathan Okome has left the club to purse an opportunity in Baller League UK.

Okome joined Leek in the summer of 2024 and made 44 appearances in all competitions for the Blues last season.

The former 1874 Northwich and Nantwich Town man wasn't named in their matchday squad for Monday's 3-1 victory over Warrington Town.

Baller League is an influencer-led six-a-side format which made its UK debut earlier this year.

It sees former Premier League players, futsal players and celebrities face one another in 12 teams to win the Baller League.

A club statement read: "Nathan has informed the club that he has been undergoing recent trials to participate in the Baller League UK and has been accepted as a player that can be drafted into the various squads.

"Clearly the demands of participating in this project would affect the availability, fitness and performance level of any player, and committing to it would jeopardise their status in the team.

"After discussing the matter with the player and his desire to pursue the Baller League UK opportunity, the club has taken to decision to withdraw Nathan from the current squad, allowing him to fully focus on it.

"We would like to wish Nathan all the very best with this endeavour and thank him for his contributions to the club.

“He has been a popular character within the club and fan base and will be missed.”
