Lincoln United manager Billy Heath resigns

Lincoln United have announced the resignation of manager Billy Heath after just over a month in charge.

Heath replaced Scott Hellewell and his assistant, Paul Grimes, at the end of November, after the pair were relieved of their duties with the club sat 15th in the NPL East Division.

Heath arrived with an outstanding pedigree across non-league football, having enjoyed success at several clubs including Alfreton Town and Halifax Town.

His most notable spell came at North Ferriby, where he guided the Villagers to promotion to the National League and lifted the FA Trophy at Wembley.

A familiar face to the Ashby Avenue faithful, Heath also represented Lincoln United as a centre-back during the 1990s.

Despite his prior successes, Heath failed to win any of his four games in charge, losing  the last three.

His departure was confirmed on Tuesday with the club sat in the relegation zone, a point from safety.

Director of football Dave Frecklington took charge of their 2-2 draw with Hallam on New Year's Day.
