Macclesfield announce new deals for 10 members of title-winning squad
Macclesfield have announced a raft of new deals for key members of their squad, following the club's promotion to the National League North.
Laurent Mendy, John Rooney, Paul Dawson, Lewis Fensome, Neil Kengni, Brandon Lee, Luke Duffy, Max Dearnley, Tre Pemberton, and Rollin Menayese have all agreed to remain at the Leasing.com Stadium beyond their title-winning season.
Mendy played a starring role in the club's promotion-winning afternoon, scoring their equalising goal against Bamber Bridge as the Silkmen came from a goal down to win 2-1 and seal the title.
Rooney and Dawson have both hit double figures for the season - a tally bettered only by D'Mani Mellor (19) and Danny Elliott (37).
Goalkeeper Dearnley has featured 45 times in all competitions during the 2024/25 campaign, conceding 37 goals and keeping 19 clean sheets.
In front of Dearnley, central defender Rooney - younger brother of former Manchester United and England international Wayne - has also played a pivotal role in the club's push for promotion.
Confirming the new deals, Macclesfield said: "Robbie, Rob [Smethurst], and all the board of directors have worked tirelessly to get these deals over the line, and we are delighted that they are committing to the journey."
Macclesfield's season is far from over, however, as they look to try and break the Northern Premier League record for points during a season.
With four games remaining, Robbie Savage's side are now just seven behind Darlington's tally of 104, set during the 2015/16 season when 46 games were played during the regular season compared to 42.
