Matlock Town lose star forward following relegation

Matlock Town have confirmed the departure of forward Montel Gibson, who has been released from the remainder of his contract following the club's relegation from the Northern Premier League.
The Gladiators say that Gibson, who joined the club back in September, has been released at his own request to enable him to "explore interest from a higher level".
Arriving from Hereford for an undisclosed fee, Gibson went on to feature 36 times for the club in all competitions, scoring 22 goals during that time.
He finished the season as the Gladiators' top scorer, scoring 15 times more than any other team-mate.
Earlier in his career, Gibson gained Football League experience at Notts County and Grimsby Town, where he played under former Premier League manager Ian Holloway during the 2020/21 campaign.
News of Gibson's departure was confirmed hours after the club's 1-1 draw at home to Lancaster City on the final day of the season.
He scored seven goals in the final seven games of the campaign - including against the Dolly Blues - but was unable to help the club retain its Step 3 status.
In a club statement, Matlock have confirmed that a full retained list will be announced imminently as they start preparing for life in the league below next season.
