More commit to Nantwich as former captain returns

Nantwich Town have welcomed back former captain Troy Bourne, while midfielders Fenton Green and Joe Collins have both committed to the club for next season.

Bourne, 28, spent last season at Warrington Town having previously been with the Dabbers for 10 years, making 304 appearances after making his debut at the age of just 17.

He said: “I’m delighted to be back at Nantwich Town. After spending 10 great years at the club, it has always felt like home, and I’m excited to be part of the next chapter.

“The club, the people around it and the fans have played a huge part in my football journey, so it’s great to be back. I’ve had some really positive conversations with Luke about the direction the club is heading in, and it’s something I wanted to be part of.”

Manager Luke Goddard said: “Troy became available and initially the conversation was more a general one to see where he was at, but it quickly became aligned that it was a right fit and he was on board with the direction and changes we wish to drive over the coming years.

“He was always going to return one day, some will be surprised at the timing but selfishly at just 28 years old I’m glad it’s happening now rather than in six years’ time, as I feel we can help rediscover the best version of Troy Bourne of a few seasons back who still has all the attributes to play in the National League.”

Green, 23, made 40 appearances for the Dabbers last season and Collins won the club’s Goal of the Season award after a fantastic strike away at Runcorn Linnets.

The pair follow defenders Perry Bircumshaw, vice-captain Joel Connolly and Aidy Roxburgh in committing to the 2026/27 season.

Former Crewe defender Harry Davis, who made more than 200 appearances in the Football League, has joined from Northwich Victoria, following in the footsteps of his father Steve who was a player and manager at Nantwich.

Another ex-Crewe youngster, midfielder Ethan Hartshorn, has joined from Congleton Town, while forward Ollie Pope has re-joined the Dabbers from Winsford United. Pope made his senior debut at Nantwich at the age of 16.

The Dabbers have also previously announced the signing of defender Liam Fitzpatrick, from recently promoted 1874 Northwich.
