Nathan Haslam appointed Matlock Town boss
Matlock Town have appointed former Whitby Town and Guisborough Town boss Nathan Haslam as their new manager.
Haslam becomes the Gladiators' third permanent boss of the season, and will be joined at the club by Pav Singh, who will serve as assistant manager.
The club parted company with Ricky Ravenhill back in August, naming Lewis Duckmanton as his successor.
However, Duckmanton resigned from the role after less than a month in charge, in the wake of their 4-2 home defeat to Bridlington Town at the start of October.
A vastly experienced player, coach and manager, Haslam arrived at Whitby as first team coach in April 2020, and later that year because joint-manager alongside Lee Bullock.
Taking sole charge in September 2020, Haslam went on to manage more than 150 games in charge of the Seasiders, notably taking them to the FA Cup first round proper for the first time in 20 years and steering the club to North Riding Senior Cup success.
A return to Guisborough Town - where he previously played and coached - followed for Haslam in April 2025.
During his only full season in charge, Haslam guided the Priorymen to the Northern League title for the first time in the club’s 53-year history, securing promotion to Step 4.
Like Matlock, Guisborough currently ply their trade in the NPL East Division.
Haslam got his Matlock tenure off to a winning start on Saturday, the Gladiators running out 3-0 winners at Stocksbridge Park Steels.
"It is clear from the conversations I’ve had with the owner that there is real ambition at this football club and that is something that really excites me," he said.
"We’ve got some really good players here and while the start of the season has been difficult, particularly with injuries, I believe there is a lot to be positive about.
"My immediate priority is to bring some stability, build confidence within the group and get us playing an expansive, attacking brand of football that the supporters can enjoy."
Joining Haslam in the Matlock dugout will be ex-Farsley Celtic director and manager Singh.
Now head of coach development at Championship side Wrexham, Matlock say Singh is "widely regarded as a coach-development specialist, known for a people-centred approach, a commitment to diversity, and a high-energy style on the pitch".
Saturday's victory sees Matlock end the weekend ninth in the NPL East Division table, one point adrift of the play-offs.
