New Bury manager appointed

Bury have announced that interim manager Tim Lees will continue to take charge of the club until the end of the season.

The Shakers say his appointment will bring "continuity, commitment, and a deep understanding of the club’s values and ambitions".

Lees, who has served as assistant manager since 2023, steps into the role following the departure of former Grimsby Town and Barrow boss Michael Jolley, who left the club just two days after being appointed following significant backlash from supporters.

“Given the changes around the club recently, the team really needs some stability and clarity," Lees said.

"I love the club and I’m extremely passionate to see us continue to progress. It is an honour to represent Bury in a managerial capacity and I’ll give it everything I have.”

The club say the decision will give them chance to conduct a "thorough process" before appointing a new permanent manager who will take the club forward in 2026/27.

Lees will be supported by Sam Ashton, who will play a key role within the first team setup and offer additional experience during the interim period.

Bury currently sit seventh in the NPL West Division, two points outside the play-off places.
