New Ilkeston Town manager appointed
Ilkeston Town have confirmed the appointment of Ryan Hindley as their new manager.
A familiar face to Robins supporters from his playing days, Hindley joins the Robins following four years at Retford United.
During his time with the Badgers, he guided them to promotion to Step 5 after an incredible 103-point league campaign and a dramatic play-off final victory.
Hindley, who takes over from Tris Whitman, watched his new club from the stands on Saturday as they were heavily beaten 5-0 by Redcar Athletic.
His new assistant, James Jepson, was present on the touchline as Ilkeston were dealt their seventh league defeat in a row.
"It's amazing to be back at my spiritual football home," Hindley said on the appointment.
"This is the biggest club outside of Step 2 in my opinion, around these parts. It always has been, and my job now is to get supporters to vote with their feet, back in here and making noise.
"I want to give them a team to be proud of: an Ilkeston team where, no matter the result, they'll die for the badge and give everything they've got.
"We're in a dogfight, but my word to the supporters is that this club is going to get better.
"It might get worse before it gets better because this is an unforgiving league, but in terms of what we want to bring to this club, it's a team that people can be proud of."
