NPL round-up | Bury win eight-goal thriller as Curzon claim big victory on the road
The three NPL Premier Division games played on Tuesday night provided no shortage of entertainment.
At Salford Van Hire Gigg Lane, the goals were flowing as Bury ran out 5-3 winners at home to Leek Town.
A superb first-half double from Kai Evans, shortly after Owen Robinson's 20th minute opener, helped establish a healthy half-time lead for the Shakers.
Mo Touray and Dom Telford added their names to the scoresheet to make it five, before three late goals in an 11-minute spell for Leek threatened a nervy ending.
However, Anthony Johnson's side saw the job through, picking up their fifth home league win in six in the process.
They climb to 10th in the table as a result, with Leek down in 18th.
Another side who picked up a positive result on Tuesday were Curzon Ashton, who defeated Gainsborough Trinity 3-0 away from home to bring the Holy Blues' five-game winning run in the league to an abrupt halt.
Brad Holmes gave Curzon the lead inside 10 minutes at the KAL Group Stadium, before two goals in five second-half minutes from Timi Sobowale and Danny Whitehead got the job done.
Curzon have now won seven of their last nine in the league, keeping clean sheets in five of those victories. They end the latest round of midweek games, sixth in the table, three points adrift of Gainsborough in fourth.
Tuesday's final game saw Quorn come from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at FC United of Manchester.
Lucas Kirkpatrick gave FC United the lead after 16 minutes as they looked for back-to-back league wins.
Despite hitting the woodwork twice before half-time, the hosts' lead stayed at one and they were made to pay the price six minutes into the second half, Jesse Friend's eighth goal of the season earning Quorn a valuable point on the road.

- Bury 5-3 Leek Town
- FC United of Manchester 1-1 Quorn
