NPL round-up | Cleethorpes rescue point to stay top as Leek climb out of relegation zone
Cleethorpes Town came from a goal down to earn a 1-1 draw at home to Redcar Athletic on Tuesday night, in a result which keeps them top of the NPL Premier Division.
Redcar knew that a win would take them to the summit, and Owen Burns' goal midway through the first half had given them the upper hand.
But 10 minutes from time, Josh Walker equalised for Cleethorpes after a scramble in the box, to ensure the points would be shared.
Tuesday’s result means the Owls move a point clear at the top of the division, ahead of Avro and Redcar in joint-second.
The Steelmen do still boast the division's only unbeaten record but have now drawn four of their opening 10 games.
The only other game of the night at Step 3 saw Leek Town climb out of the bottom four with a 2-1 win at home to Hyde United.
A second-half double from Connor Heath steered the Blues to all three points, after Hyde's Dontai Gabidon had fired the visitors in front shortly before half-time.
Tuesday's win was just Leek's second in the league this season. They move onto nine points, meaning Stockton Town fall into the relegation places.
