NPL round-up | Guiseley hit four as Bury come from two down to earn thrilling point

Five games were played in the NPL Premier Division on Tuesday night, with plenty happening at both ends of the table.

Starting near the top, Guiseley moved to within three points of league leaders Redcar Athletic after a 4-1 victory at home to Leek Town.

The free-scoring Lions trailed early on but equalised before half-time through Kallan Murphy's header.

Elliot Owen fired Guiseley ahead midway through the second half, before Lebrun Mbeka made it 3-1 sooner after.

Paul Iggulden scored a fourth for Ian Richards' side seven minutes from time, securing a third straight league win at Nethermoor in the process.

Fourth-placed Curzon Ashton remain hot on the heels of Guiseley following a 1-0 win at home to FC United of Manchester.

The only goal of the game came after 15 minutes, Brad Holmes' back-post finish ensuring a fifth home league win in a row for the Nash.

As for FC United, defeat leaves them second-bottom in the table, two points from safety.

The only side below Mark Beesley's men are Bamber Bridge, who fell to a 2-0 defeat at Emley.

The home side broke the deadlock seconds after half-time through Aaron Haswell, before Gabby Johnson doubled their advantage midway through the second half from the penalty spot.

As a result of a recent resurgence which has seen the Pewits win three of their last four matches, they climb up to 13th in the table.

Elsewhere on Tuesday night, Bury and Avro played out a thrilling 2-2 draw at Salford Van Hire Gigg Lane.

Goals either side of half-time from Benito Lowe gave Avro a two-goal cushion, but that was soon wiped out by the Shakers as James Melhado's header halved the deficit.

Moments later, Leo Graham poked home an equaliser for Anthony Johnson's side.

The Shakers came closest to winning it late on, having one cleared off the line in injury time, but there would be no fifth goal on the night as the points were shared.

The only other game on Tuesday in the NPL Premier Division saw Warrington Town return to winning ways on the road, defeating Ashton United 1-0.

Defender Evan Gumbs scored the only goal nine minutes from time for the Yellows, who moved back to within a point of the play-offs.

Ashton, meanwhile, are now winless in 12 league matches, with only goal difference stopping them from falling into the relegation zone.
