NPL round-up | Redcar go top after clash of the high-flyers ends level
The goals were flowing across the NPL Premier Division on Saturday afternoon, with all 12 of the sides in action scoring in their respective fixtures.
The featured game of the weekend between in-form Workington and Cleethorpes Town, who came into the weekend top of the table, actually produced the fewest goals.
A 1-1 draw at the Fibrus Community Stadium meant Workington's winning run in the league ended at six matches, whilst also seeing Cleethorpes relinquish their spot at the summit.
Josh Walker's header 13 minutes from time had Cleethorpes on course for all three points on their travels.
But the Reds responded three minutes from time through summer signing Brennan Dickenson to earn a share of the spoils.
Cleethorpes' slip-up meant a win for Redcar Athletic would've seen them end the weekend in first place, and the Steelmen duly obliged with a 3-1 victory at home to Alfreton Town.
Louis Johnson's goal on the stroke of half-time saw them hit the front, before quickfire goals from Adam Boyes and Oscar Fletcher helped Redcar move further clear before the hour.
A Nathan Guru own-goal two minutes from time allowed Alfreton to reduce the deficit, but it wasn't enough to prevent Carl Jarrett's side from stretching their unbeaten start to 11 games.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Harrison Wood's hat-trick fired Warrington Rylands to a convincing 4-1 home win against Emley.
Wood scored two first-half goals to put the Blues in the ascendancy then completed his treble shortly after the hour, making it 3-1 at the time after Charlie Barks had pulled one back for the visitors six minutes after half-time.
Ben Hardcastle completed the win in stoppage time, extended Rylands' unbeaten league run to five games as they climbed to sixth in the table.
Lancaster City moved into the top half after coming from behind to beat managerless Ilkeston Town 2-1 at the Giant Axe.
The Robins, who parted ways with former boss Tris Whitman in midweek, took the lead after 17 minutes through Anthony Dwyer.
But Lancaster responded shortly after the hour, Sam Bailey converting from the penalty spot on his 350th appearance for the club.
And with 10 minutes to go, a diving header from Jim Craig completed the turnaround as Jimmy Marshall's side ended their four-game winless run at home in the league.
The final games of the weekend saw important wins for Hyde United and Quorn, who climbed out of the relegation zone.
Hyde had won just one of their last six in the league heading into Saturday's assignment, but goals from Tom Walker and the recently-returned Brad Roscoe steered them to all three points at the Project Solar Stadium.
Josh Scott had levelled for struggling Stockton just after the hour, but it was Roscoe who headed home the winner for the Tigers.
Finally, Quorn were impressive 4-2 winners at Bamber Bridge.
Jesse Friend scores twice before half-time for the Methodists, but goals from Max Broughton and Archie Lang drew the Brig back level within 15 minutes of the second half.
Friend turned provider to set up Terrell Pennant, who made it 3-2 to Quorn on 68 minutes, before Billy Kee headed home their fourth three minutes from time.
Saturday's win was enough to help Quorn escape the bottom four on goal difference, with Bamber Bridge taking their place in the relegation zone as a result.
