Statement from the Northern Premier League

Statement from the Northern Premier League

The Northern Premier League can confirm that Mark Harris has resigned from his positions as Independent Chairman and Director of the League with immediate effect.

The Board has accepted his resignation.

As previously announced, he had been relieved of his duties pending the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings arising from matters that occurred earlier this year. Following a period of reflection, Mark has informed the Board of his decision to step down permanently from his roles within the League.

The Board acknowledges and respects that decision.

Mark joined the Northern Premier League Board in 2005 and served as Chairman for the past seventeen years. During that time, he played a significant role in the development of the League, including driving forward the commercial activities, and worked alongside fellow Board members, League staff and clubs during a period of considerable growth and change within the competition.

The Board wishes to place on record its thanks to Mark for his many years of service to the Northern Premier League and the wider game.

The League remains fully committed to the highest standards of governance, accountability and conduct. The Board has continued to discharge its responsibilities throughout this period and is confident that the League is well positioned to continue serving the interests of its member clubs and stakeholders.

Further announcements regarding arrangements for the recruitment of a new Independent Chair will be made in due course.

The Board would like to thank member clubs for their continued support and professionalism throughout this period and looks forward to working with them as the League continues to move forward.
