Tuntulwana steps up to National League North
Gainsborough Trinity have confirmed the departure of star forward Sisa Tuntulwana, who has completed a move to National League North side Buxton.
The Holy Blues say the 22-year-old turned down the offer of a new contract in favour of leaving the club to play at a higher level.
The South Africa-born talent, who transitioned from a right-back to a forward during his time at the club, excelled for Russ Wilcox’s side during the 2025/26 campaign, helping the Holy Blues to a seventh-place finish in the Northern Premier League as they also enjoyed deep runs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy.
In a statement confirming his departure, the club said: “Everyone at Gainsborough Trinity FC would like to place on record our thanks to Sisa for his efforts, commitment and contribution during his time at the club.
“He has played an important role during his spell at the Kal Group Stadium and leaves with our appreciation and respect.
“We wish Sisa every success in the next chapter of his career, and thank our supporters for their continued backing and understanding throughout this process.”
Manager Russ Wilcox added: "We wish Sisa all the best in the next chapter of his career.
!His development, going from a right-back to a striker, has been a real positive for Sisa in his time at Gainsborough and we wish him all the best, next season and beyond."
The departure of Tuntulwana will be disappointing to Trinity fans. However, they can be excited by someone coming through the door, with 26 year-old goalkeeper Callum Hawkins their latest new addition after leaving Curzon Ashton.
Prior to making 40 appearances for the club in 2025/26, Hawkins had a three-year stint with Leamington in National League North.
During that time, he amassed 132 appearances and kept 42 clean sheets.
