Vauxhall Motors part ways with boss Danny Holmes

Danny Holmes has left his position as manager of Vauxhall Motors, the club have confirmed.

The two parties have agreed to bring Holmes' time at the club to an end after more than two-and-a-half years.

In his first senior management role, Holmes led the club to the NPL West Division play-offs during his first full season in charge, ultimately falling to defeat against promoted Hednesford Town at the semi-final stage.

This season they followed up their success with a seventh-place finish, with Motors ending the campaign three points adrift of the top five.

It was announced in mid-May that Holmes and his backroom team had signed new deals which would keep them at the club for the 2026/27 season.

However, he has now stepped down from the role after a review of the club's financial commitments and operating structure.

In an open letter to supporters, chairman Jon Waring confirmed that the club would operate with a reduced playing budget next season "as part of a wider strategy to ensure the long-term sustainability of the club".

Waring also accepted that this decision would make it difficult for Holmes to "pursue the ambitions he had set" for the upcoming campaign.

The statement added: "Danny leaves with the sincere thanks and appreciation of everyone at Vauxhall Motors FC for his hard work, professionalism and commitment during his time in charge.

"His contribution to the club, both on and off the pitch, has been greatly valued, and he departs with the very best wishes of the board, players, volunteers and supporters."
