Veteran EFL defender joins Prescot Cables

Prescot Cables have signed experienced defender Peter Clarke following his release from Warrington Town.

Clarke was one of nine players to leave the Yellows following their relegation from the National League North at the end of last season.

The 43-year-old was a mainstay of his former club's starting XI during their time at Step 2, making 77 appearances in all competitions.

He has spent much of his career in the Football League, featuring over 750 times for a number of clubs.

Clarke, who started his career at Everton, boasts a glittering CV after more than 20 years in the professional game - notably helping Huddersfield Town earn promotion to the Championship during the 2011/12 season.

He is just 13 career games shy of reaching 1,000 as a professional - something which he hopes to achieve at the Pesky Bulls, who finished 10th in the Northern Premier League last term.
