Warrington Town begin summer recruitment as new winger joins club

Warrington Town have announced the signing of winger Jack Goodwin from Prescot Cables.

The 24-year-old made more than 150 appearances for Cables, and was part of their promotion-winning side in 2023/24.

He has also previously featured in the National League North with Marine.

On the move, Goodwin said: “I’m made up to be here. I’ve adapted to this level quite well and hopefully I can kick on.

“I’ve spoken to Cards [manager Paul Carden] a few times and think now is the right time to make the move. I know a few of the lads already, so it makes it more comfortable.”

Last season, Goodwin scored seven goals for Prescot and featured in their game against the Yellows at Cantilever Park back in January.

But following Cables' relegation from the NPL Premier Division last season, it was confirmed that Goodwin would move on to pursue opportunities elsewhere.

Now, the wide forward's next destination has been confirmed as he joins a Yellows side hoping for improvement next season after a 14th-place finish last term.

“I’ve known Jack a long time, I coached him maybe 10 years ago now at Blackburn," Yellows boss Carden said.

"I tried to sign him last summer but he wanted to give it another season at Prescot, so when he let me know he was leaving this time, I wanted to do what I could to bring him in.

“He’s someone who will excite the fans. He can travel with the ball, he’s got good pace, good power, good ability, and he is a goal threat.

"He’s said to me he wants to get more goals, which is what we want and that’s what we need.”
