Ashton United swoop for Warrington Town midfielder

Central midfielder Ben Hough has been confirmed as Ashton United's fifth summer signing.

The 18-year-old made 24 appearances for Warrington in all competitions last season but will now move onto pastures new ahead of the 2022/23 Pitching In Northern Premier League season.

He will be joined at Hurst Cross by former Yellows team-mate Matthew Regan, who made the switch from Cantilever Park to Greater Manchester to become the Robins’ first summer signing earlier this month.

Midfielder Max Harrop and strikers Callum Saunders and Jack Kenny have also committed to being part of Michael Clegg’s squad as the club looks to improve upon last season’s 14th-placed finish.

They have also started announcing retentions ahead of the new season, with captain Michael Brewster and ever-dependable defender Harry Coates among the first to commit.

The Robins return to pre-season action on Tuesday 5 July at home to Barrow AFC, with the new season set to commence on Saturday 13 August.
