Basford United sign Barnsley duo on loan

Barnsley duo Josiah Dyer and Jean Claude Makiessi have joined Basford United on short-term loan deals.

Dyer, 18, impressed for Barnsley when the two sides met in a pre-season friendly last month.

He went on to sign a professional contract with the League One club, linking up with their U21s side.

The forward was a key member of Barnsley’s title-winning U18s side and also made a first team debut back in October, coming on as a second half substitute in their EFL Trophy victory over Doncaster Rovers.

He enjoyed a brief loan spell at FC United of Manchester last season, scoring three goals in six games during his time at Broadhurst Park.

Dyer will be joined at Greenwich Avenue by defensive midfielder Makiessi, who also signed a professional deal with the club last month.

Makiessi, who Basford say has been likened to Claude Makelele by Barnsley's coaching team, was an unused substitute during Saturday's 2-1 defeat Guiseley. Dyer came on as a second half substitute in the same game.
