Basford United sign young Blades defender

Basford United have brought in young Sheffield United defender Jack Waldron on a work experience loan until the end of the season.

Waldron is a highly-rated right-sided defender who is currently involved with the Blades' U21s side, captaining the team on occasion already this season.

Previously, he impressed the club at U18s level, creating more goals down the right flank than any other player.

He was a key part of their U18s side which reached the National semi-finals last season, but will now link up with the Lions to gain further minutes in men's first team football.

Waldron has also been capped by England at U16s and U17s level.

He made his unofficial Basford United home debut on Saturday as they welcomed Notts County Academy to Greenwich Avenue for a friendly, with the Lions coming from behind to win 2-1.

James Jepson's side are back in league action on March 16 at home to Matlock Town.
