Frickley Athletic are mourning the loss of former goalkeeper Gary Ingham who passed away earlier this week.

Ingham, who was 48, enjoyed a distinguished Non-League career, counting Gainsborough Trinity, Stalybridge Celtic, Leek Town and Belper Town among his clubs before joining the Blues.

He was signed by then manager Gary Marrow in October 2004 and went on to make 97 appearances for the Blues, playing a large part in their successful 2005-06 season.

The keeper, pictured, left to join Grantham Town early in the 2006-07 season and then moved to Stocksbridge Park Steels where he became assistant manager to Gary Marrow.

His career began in the youth team at Rotherham United and also had loan spells at Shepshed Charterhouse, Goole Town, Bridlington Town and Maltby Miners Welfare before going on to make eleven Football League appearances for Doncaster Rovers.

Frickley Athletic Secretary Steve Pennock said: "All at Frickley Athletic offer our sincere condolences to Gary's friends and family. Gary was a true gentlemen who will be truly missed all who knew him."
