Boro right-back joins Marske United

Marske United have signed young Middlesbrough right-back George Gitau on an initial one-month loan.

The 20-year-old defender joined Championship side Boro in 2020 after previous spells with Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Brighton.

He is also eligible to represent Germany and Kenya on the international stage.

Gitau was a regular for Boro's U18s in the 2020/21 season and featured in their U17s' run to the Premier League Cup final.

He has also made eight appearances with Boro’s Under-23s in the PL2, scoring in a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.

In January of this year, the right-back was on the bench for his parent club when they hosted Brighton in the FA Cup, and also trained for the first team in pre-season, starting in their friendly against Hartlepool.

Following the postponement of Tuesday's trip to Warrington Rylands, his first taste of action in a Seasiders shirt could come at home to Worksop Town on Saturday.
