Clegg confirms four depart Ashton United

Ashton United have announced that four players have left the club ahead of the Pitching In Northern Premier League 2021/22 season.

Manager Michael Clegg has confirmed that Millenic Alli, John Pritchard, Jake Cotrell and Louis Almond have all left the club.

Alli scored twice in thirteen appearances for the Robins last season and has now joined National League side Stockport County.

Clegg said: “We are absolutely delighted to play a part in Milli’s progress. It was evident to see last season that he has all the ingredients to go higher. He goes with our best wishes."

Left-back Pritchard has also left Hurst Cross after two seasons with the club.

Clegg added: “We are extremely disappointed to lose JP. A player with who I had a great relationship with and I wish nothing but the best for. Unfortunately, we agreed on a deal 3/4 weeks ago, then when he came to sign that last Tuesday, he wasn’t happy with the terms. So it was then we withdrew that offer and agreed it would be best for him to have a fresh start elsewhere.

"I think sometimes the deal has to be right for the club and we couldn’t have gone any higher. It’s as simple as that really. He will be missed by us all.”
