Ex-Liverpool youth defender joins Stalybridge

Stalybridge Celtic have announced the signing of defender Dharius Waldron.

The former Liverpool U18s defender joins the club from Ramsbottom United, and featured for the first time in their 2-1 pre-season friendly defeat to Morecambe last week.

Manchester-born Waldron was scouted by Liverpool while playing for Fletcher Moss FC’s Youth Team in 2009, and spent six years progressing through the clubs academy before leaving in 2015.

He went on to feature for Northwich Victoria, Maine Road & 1874 Northwich before linking up with Celtic Manager Chris Willcock at Ramsbottom, where he played some of his best football.

After signing for the club, he said: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to be part of this club.

“I’ve worked with the Gaffer and his staff before and I’m ready to fight along with the rest of the team to bring success this season.”
